My name is Mary Petersen, and I am a psychotherapist.  I believe that, above and beyond my training, the thing that helps me to be a good therapist is being human myself, just like my clients are human.  If people can be genuine, and stay connected to other people, they stand the best chance of living healthy, productive lives and feeling good about themselves.  We all have ups and downs, and we all struggle sometimes.  It is part of being human, and it doesn’t mean that a person is crazy.  Sometimes people have very difficult things to face, or specific things from the past that have happened that are hard to deal with.  Sometimes it is not so obvious.  But if you feel overwhelmed a lot, or your struggles are interfering with your life, or maybe you just wish your life could be a little different, it might be a good idea for you to consider counseling.  I know that it is often hard to change or even make a phone call to a therapist.  But you are welcome to contact me for a free phone consultation to see if treatment might benefit you.  I would be happy to hear from you, and to listen to your situation.  And if, for whatever reason, you feel that you and I don’t click, I would be happy to help you find another therapist.  So thank you for checking out my website, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Mary Petersen is a clinical therapist in private practice.  She sees individuals, couples, families and groups by appointment.  Mary has been practicing since 1999 and sees a wide variety of clients, but specializes in clients who have “buried” issues or feel “stuck.”
